How often should I change my oil ... ?

Every 3,000 miles, for the same reason you should go to your doctor for a physical annually and have your teeth cleaned twice a year. It’s preventive maintenance and it’s the least expensive, most effective way to insure unnecessary car failures. It’s like a “vehicle major medical.” An oil change allows the engine to work efficiently and avoid abrasions.

It’s that simple!

How can I find out if a vehicle has been in an accident?

An auto dealer is only responsible to tell you if he knows. In some cases, certain dollar values need to established ie, if a dealer knows about more than $500 worth of damage, he may be required to disclose. The fact is, he may not know.  There are a number of online information services. Your VIN  (Vehicle Identification Number) will disclose anything that has been reported .This is a classic example of garbage in; garbage out. Just because it hasn’t been reported, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen! In most cases, you are allowed to take  the vehicle in question to an independent 3rd party and have it inspected. You will have to absorb the cost. If you have the slightest doubt, this modest investment could yield you large dividends.

What is upside down?

Hopefully you haven’t just rolled your vehicle over and you’re waiting for the tow truck to arrive! More than likely, they are describing the position you are in as it relates to value and debt on your trade in. The simple answer is that you owe more money to the lending institution than your vehicle is worth on the wholesale market: Wholesale market being what another auto dealer would pay for your vehicle in its current condition.
